First, a deadline for every family and caregiver. Data Confirmation is due in Aeries by Tuesday, September 8. Review your emergency contacts, income information, and education levels, and confirm the 2026-27 Annual Notice to Parents. Access to your student's Aeries account requires it.

New this year, the form includes the California Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI). NUSD participates in CYBHI to help fund counseling, mental health services, and wellness supports.

California law changed this year. Senate Bill 848 adds school volunteers to the state's list of mandated reporters and requires annual training. This is not a San Marin rule or an NUSD rule. It is state law.

Every San Marin volunteer completes mandated reporter training this year. If you plan to help out at any point, please start now. You will not be able to volunteer until it is complete.

The district put the whole checklist on one page: the volunteer application, a photo ID, a TB clearance, and the training, which is a short video plus a verification form.

The TB clearance is usually simpler than people expect. It starts as a questionnaire, not a shot, and you only go on to a test if the questionnaire finds a risk factor. If you already have a current clearance on file, you do not need a new one.

Three dates to put on your calendar now. Monday, September 7 is Labor Day and there is no school. Friday, September 11 is a minimum day, with dismissal at 1:15 PM. Back to School Night is Thursday, September 17, at 5:30 PM.

The Mustang Way

Goal Setting is a target and a check. Both halves count. The rule is the same for a learning goal in the classroom and for training as a Mustang student athlete: a target nobody looks at again is a wish.

There is a place for wishes. A goal is different. Our adults are working with students this year on setting real ones and coming back to them. I am asking the same of our staff: one personal goal and one professional goal for the year.

The first check of the year is Friday, September 25, when the progress report period ends. Ask your student what they are working toward. Then ask again on the 25th.

Counselors have worked through more than 600 schedule change requests since the year began. Thank you for your patience. Requests go through the QR code at the counseling office through Wednesday, September 2.

Parking spot auction closes Wednesday, September 2 at 9:00 PM. One reserved spot in the STEM Building lot for a licensed student driver, all of 2026-27.
